With the shutdown of the federal government, we are going to be seeing a surge of people that need to turn to food banks for their food sources as SNAP has ended for the time being.
A food drive for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank supported by the Pittsburgh Film Community has been organized to give our fortunate working members an opportunity to give back to those in need.
Attached is a flyer with some of the more frequently needed items for food drives. Also, keep in mind that a monetary contribution can sometimes even go further with the food bank, as they can purchase fresh produce etc. and get it in the hands of people that need it most. To make a direct financial contribution, click this link https://secure.qgiv.com/event/pittsburghfilmmakercommunity/ or scan the QR code on one of our flyers.
Many people require snap benefits to survive: Single parents, the elderly, the disabled, people that work for large corporations that pay very poorly, the sick, etc. For many people it's not a handout, it is a lifeline.
The Parallax production has agreed to support our efforts in making this a successful drive, and the Set Dec crew on Parallax graciously volunteered to set up some drop boxes for us around the stage.
The Warrendale donation boxes will be outside of the Set Dec lockup and around the stage and office.
Stage Drop-offs begin 11/7 and will conclude on 11/17.
We also have another location for drop-offs in the city. This is in conjunction with the freelance community reaching out to help as well.
High Street Studios in the Northside
This drop off point will be available to anyone November 13th-15th 1-5pm.
