Since joining the International in 1991, Local 489 has represented IATSE Studio Mechanics in the Greater Pittsburgh area on more than 200 Films and Television Series and countless commercials. We proudly count ourselves among the 362 IATSE Locals in the United States and Canada. We are the skilled union workers behind the scenes of the motion picture industry who make the magic.  

As a member of IATSE working under a union contract you are guaranteed safety guidelines, minimum working conditions, equal pay wages, guaranteed overtime pay, health insurance, rest periods, and retirement benefits. 

Local 489 is a non-discriminatory union with no seniority list. Our members are hired based on their knowledge and skills.
